A Guide to Managing Dry Skin
Feeling a little parched? So is your skin. Dry skin means the most superficial layer of the skin (epidermis) is lacking water. It happens when the lipids and/or proteins within this layer aren’t able to stop moisture evaporating from the skin’s surface. At its worst, your skin may crack, peel, or become itchy, irritated, or inflamed. The good news however, is that dry skin can often be managed.
If you don’t normally suffer with dry skin, make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and avoiding diuretics like alcohol and caffeine as these can make a significant difference in how your skin feels and looks.
